It is hard to run a West Virginia shortline very far into the hills without hitting a coal seam and the C&P was no exception. The coal mine and tipple is kept commercially in low profile and serves primarily the railroad's needs and local customers.

The farm house is close to the Coal River but the area takes its name from "Swinging Bridge" for obvious reasons.
