Altoona PA, May 2006. RAILROAD GRANT
A big construction project at the Altoona Railroader's Museum lands a large state grant. An additional $2 million in state funding will be spent on the completion of the "quarter-round house" project. When the new building behind the existing museum is finished in the spring of next year, it will be the home of the restored K-4 steam locomotive. The additional state funding is a grant from Pennsylvania's Transportation Enhancement Fund. State Representative Rick Geist says he was able to secure the funding as a way to boost the rail museum and preserve this region's rail history.
